Enjoy This One For Scooter: O's-Yanks Gamer XI
Jeff Karstens gets the start tonight in place of Rocket, who is serving his suspension for plunking Alex Rios. The O's send Daniel Cabrera, who has had a rough go with the Yankee battery on the season. Melky Cabrera leads off tonight, and has been up to something for the last 18 games. Giambi will DH tonight, with Betemit holding court at first base.
Pete Abraham has quotes from several notable baseball figures regarding the passing of Phil Rizzuto. There will be a moment of silence before the game, and the Yankees will wear number 10 on their left sleeves for the rest of the season.
Lineups are in the extended, comment away.

The Yankee Bullpen confuses me. It seems liek every other game theres a new name. Jim Brower? When did he show up?

Nice running catch crashing into the wall in deep right center by Melky to rob Patterson of a double, but Brian "The Gnat" Roberts scores on the tag at third after singling and then stealing second and third.
Then two more singles. Karstens/Brower=sharp as a marble.
Another grab on the run from Melky coming in this time to end the inning.

Brower was recalled from SWB a couple of weeks ago after pitching well in AAA. He was released by the Pirates back in April and signed a minor-league contract in May if I remember correctly.

Ahh.. Ok. Sorry, its jsut g ettign hard to change up with the bullpen changes. I mean sicne he was hgihly touted I know Joba as part of the "know thy enemy" deal..
But before Joba there was someone else who's anme I cant recall.
Mora doubles to lead off.

Just for fun, check out Yahoo Sports page for Brower, they have a picture of him with a Pirates cap on, yet he's never actually played a game for the Pirates. That's just fun stuff.

Okay. one last thing .. excellent throw by Melky to home again, but couldn't get the runner from third on the tag. O's up 7-0. Outta outta outta here.

Is it my imagination or is Melky a vacuum cleaner out in center?

I said this in the Sox thread, btu I was watching the Yankee game via MASN which I get here in Lancaster PA and I have to say that the plunking of Markakis was unquestionably intentional and completely bush league.
The Ynaks are upset because they are gettign creamed.. so they plunk a guy? Itd be one thing, still unacceptable but more understandable, if they'd been losing alot to that point.. but they are on a freakin' roll. It was.. just pathetic.

Came home to a slaughter. Ah well.
Good job D, keep up the Bush League meme.

Melky's hitting streak ends. Crap.

I agree, the bush thing is tired.

It would have been so much better for Farnsworth to come into that game in Toronto and throw one under Rios' chin...we don't use him any more often than we use our starters these days anyway (for good reason) and we need our top five pitching as many games as possible right now. Of course, the Yanks would still have needed to score at least one run...

this game = blecchhh
it's funny how many of the sf's go nuts when a yankee pitcher hits a batter, but if a sox pitcher hits one, rationalization nation goes into overdrive about how it was unintentional and just part of the game...sorry about this rather simplistic observation, but that's the way it is...

Yeah DC, because it's just Red Sox fans that do that, Yankee fans are never hypocritical.
