Brian Cashman (we think, though it might be Big Stein) admits a mistake, GOP-style, by firing the guy he hired. Damn underlings! Can't trust'em. I suppose that's what you get when you hire a fitness coach from a country club to work with a $200M payrolled athletic squad filled with some of the world's elite athletes.
What's next for Cash and the HR department, a Yankee clubhouse barber?

Ah well, missed this thread by a few mins!

Keep the politics off the baseball board please.

Keep the politics off the baseball board please.
That's bizarre.

Considering that various Yankees players have questioned Marty Miller's training techniques and that three guys who were working under him in Spring Training have now gone down with strained hamstrings, it is ridiculous to suggest that there's nothing to this beyond "scapegoating".

Wait, I forgot Matsui. Make that four guys.
Keep the politics off the baseball board please.
That's bizarre
Not really. I happen to agree with your little dig at the GOP, but I also can see where it's desirable to keep political references out of ones sports commentary. I know I spend enough time fighting about politics already. Don't want it cutting into my time fighting about sports. ;-)

Miller had to go. That guy was to the Yankees like I am to the Bush Presidency!

The number of jokes that can be made by the Yankees firing their "Director of Performance Enhancement" is so large, it just made my head explode.
Seriously, come on!!!!!
Posted by: LocklandSF | Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 05:18 PM
How do you hold a guy responsible for unpredictable, fluke injuries?
;-)

mr. rivera- thank you for stopping by the site. i had no idea you spend time fighting about politics. you're an intresting guy.

"Director of Performance Enhancement"
There's something very Austin Powersish, Swedish P*nis Pumpy about that title, no?
Posted by: SF | Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 05:21 PM
They fired their Director of Performance Enhancement because he lost the beeper number of the guy that had the really good sh*t!
Posted by: LocklandSF | Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 05:24 PM
hey folks, i know you said keep politics off this board but i thought you'd all want to know that we're naming marty miller as the new director of the nih tomorrow morning. rose garden ceremony.
I guess this isn't politics, though. It's medicine!

I'm not sure how strong a political statement SF is really making.
Republicans, over the last few years, have been firing a lot of people they have hired. This is simply a fact, even if SF and others here get some satisfaction out of it all.
Posted by: QuoSF | Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 05:26 PM
SF's dig at the GOP was so off-hand, it soo was not worth mentioning. We've had far more blatant political discussions here, including whole threads about political issues as they've related to ballplayers and their opinions. Which is why I said complaining about something so inocuous was "bizarre."

Can we get off the politics and get back to the Director of Performance Enhancement jokes please?
THIS IS GOLD JERRY, GOLD!

See, what's great about this is there are two solid angles, both sexual and steroid related.
Such as...
Arod's first reaction, "My wife is going to be pissed..."
Or Giambi, "Who? I don't know who you're talking about, no idea, never met the man, performance enhancing what?"

Let me be clear, jokes aside, for one moment: we post about baseball here, but within those posts we can and will refer to the wider context of the world in which we live and the game of baseball is played and sold.
Okay. Now back to penis enlargement jokes.

My only complaint about the politics is that it might have ruined what could have been one of the funnier threads ever.
Really, that's the real tragedy.
Posted by: LocklandSF | Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 05:52 PM
At least the Yankees made the title official. The Mets call theirs "clubhouse attendants".
Posted by: QuoSF | Wednesday, May 02, 2007 at 06:14 PM
Aw, come on. The political reference was a simple reference to the current AG/DOJ scandal, which is one of the bigger news stories and basically about how the Bush administration fired their own hires. It wasn't meant to be bigger than that.
