Brian Cashman (we think, though it might be Big Stein) admits a mistake, GOP-style, by firing the guy he hired. Damn underlings! Can't trust'em. I suppose that's what you get when you hire a fitness coach from a country club to work with a $200M payrolled athletic squad filled with some of the world's elite athletes.

Considering that various Yankees players have questioned Marty Miller's training techniques and that three guys who were working under him in Spring Training have now gone down with strained hamstrings, it is ridiculous to suggest that there's nothing to this beyond "scapegoating".

Not really. I happen to agree with your little dig at the GOP, but I also can see where it's desirable to keep political references out of ones sports commentary. I know I spend enough time fighting about politics already. Don't want it cutting into my time fighting about sports. ;-)

I'm not sure how strong a political statement SF is really making.
Republicans, over the last few years, have been firing a lot of people they have hired. This is simply a fact, even if SF and others here get some satisfaction out of it all.

SF's dig at the GOP was so off-hand, it soo was not worth mentioning. We've had far more blatant political discussions here, including whole threads about political issues as they've related to ballplayers and their opinions. Which is why I said complaining about something so inocuous was "bizarre."

Aw, come on. The political reference was a simple reference to the current AG/DOJ scandal, which is one of the bigger news stories and basically about how the Bush administration fired their own hires. It wasn't meant to be bigger than that.
