This article in the New York Observer details the charitable efforts of many prominent figures, including movie stars, musicians, and the odd athlete. Included on the list of those who have established charitable foundations are Bruce Willis (lame effort there, Bruno), Lance Armstrong (good effort, Tex), Rosie O'Donnell (a sourpuss, but a generous one at that), and a few Yankees. YF will be proud of the fact that his sweetheart Derek Jeter comes off as a giving fellow, with a real-life foundation that seems to do something, but skipper Joe Torre's efforts are pretty weak (maybe he's waiting for tenure from the Learning Annex to start giving big?), and scroll to the bottom for some seriously lame, almost laughable work by Bernie Williams. I know he's coming to the end of his mammoth contract, but surely he hasn't squandered it all on jazz guitar lessons, has he?
